Carin Marcus is a qualified Clinical Social Worker and Logotherapist having completed: BA Social Work Degree (Wits), BA Honors Degree Psychology (RAU Cum Laude), MA Clinical Social Work Degree (RAU Cum Laude), and Diplomat Clinician in Logotherapy (Unisa Centre for Applied Psychology, with distinction).
Carin’s field of interest is Palliative Care, grief, loss and bereavement (with particular focus on the bereaved child or child whose parent is ill). Carin has also held positions on various palliative care professional bodies. Carin’s work also includes trauma, divorce and other major life transitions. She has written publications for books in the field of Hospice, bereavement and Palliative Care.
Carin is also a trained facilitator, trainer and consultant and provides talk, workshops and lectures in her field of interest. She has been involved in working with grieving children and adolescents, and she has developed “Magical Maze Journey” Board Game for Grieving Children, “Growing through Grief Workbooks”, and “Magical AIDS Journey” Board Game for Affected Children.
Carin has appeared on TV and radio for her expertise in the field. She consults to Donald Gordon Hospital Oncology Ward, running debriefing sessions with Oncology nurses. Carin has also supervised other social workers, students and other learner’s in similar fields.
Carin continues to run a private practice and works with children, adolescents and adults.
She is fully registered with the SACSSP, SAASWIPP and the Board of Health Care Funders and as such a portion of therapy fees can be reimbursed from medical aid.
