Dina Lilian qualified as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist Cum Laude in 2002 at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and subsequently completed a Masters Degree in Speech Therapy Cum Laude in 2005. She was the Head of the Speech Therapy Department at South Rand Hospital for nine years and simultaneously opened the Stuttering Clinic at Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre in 2007.
The practice which is based in Norwood offers a variety of services. Specialties of this practice include assessments and therapy for children, adolescents and adults who stutter and also provides therapy for the older learner who struggles with reading, spelling and writing through the implementation of an international recognised technique called the Spalding Method. In addition, therapy is also provided for articulation and phonology problems, auditory processing and language problems.
The practice keeps abreast of the latest international developments in the field of Stuttering and Remedial therapy and tailors approaches for each individual. In terms of Stuttering, the practice focuses on generating and maintaining fluency and ensuring effective communication, as well as addressing family involvement and concerns that may arise at school or in the workplace. Opportunities to attend Self Help Groups and meet other people who stutter are also available.
Currently Dina consults at schools in Norwood and Parktown and works at the Donald Gordon medical Centre. Dina also works as a Supervisor for the University of the Witwatersrand to 3rd year students and lectures Fluency Disorders. Dina is fully registered with the HPCSA and the Board of Health Care Funders and as such a portion of therapy fees can be re-imbursed from medical aid.

Dina re-established Speakeasy, the Self Help Group for People Who Stutter, in 2001 and is the South African representative for the ISA (International Stuttering Association) and ICA (International Cluttering Association). She has attended numerous stuttering international conferences and workshops and has been invited to speak at a number of international and national conferences. Dina contributes to radio shows on topic in her areas of expertise and has written several of articles about stuttering. She worked at a school in Sydney, Australia where she further broadened her Speech Therapy skills and attended numerous stuttering workshops. She also worked at Delta Park School in Johannesburg.
