Lisa Kallmeyer is a Counselling Psychologist in private practice in Norwood, Gauteng. Lisa received her Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, specializing in Community Counselling, at the University of the Witwatersrand. Her MA degree was completed with an internship at UBUBELE: Educational and Psychotherapy Trust, which supports the people of Alexandra Township and the surrounding areas.

After qualifying, Lisa worked at Ububele as a psychologist for 5 years. During this time, in addition to offering psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults, she was also involved in the development and facilitation of various workshops and trainings. These trainings focused primarily on early childhood development. Lisa was also involved in the coordination and running of the Ububele Pre-school. Part of this role required psychological intervention with the children and their families as well as assisting the educators in their understanding of the possible reasons for children’s behaviour. During this time, Lisa also began working in private practice.

Lisa occasionally contributes to radio shows on topics in her areas of expertise. Lisa has had significant experience in working with individuals affected by divorce, and has written a number of articles around the theme of divorce, as well as how to assist children affected by divorce. These articles have been published at She has also contributed chapters to a published book titled Divorce 101: Survive & Thrive by Stacey Lewis.

Lisa’s approach is to individually tailor therapy to the client’s specific needs. She believes that each person brings his/her uniqueness to each therapeutic encounter and her focus is to work within this distinctive relationship, together with the client, no matter what age they may be.
